What are the uses of seamless steel pipes?

Seamless pipes are steel pipes with a seamless surface made from a single piece of metal material. Depending on the production method, seamless steel pipes can be divided into hot-rolled pipes, cold-rolled pipes, cold-drawn pipes, extruded pipes, and top pipes. Seamless pipes can also be classified based on their cross-sectional shape as either circular or non-circular pipes, with non-circular shapes including square, elliptical, triangular, hexagonal, flower-shaped, star-shaped, and finned pipes. They can have diameters of up to 650 millimeters, with a minimum diameter of 0.3 millimeters. Based on their intended use, seamless steel pipes can be categorized as thick-walled pipes and thin-walled pipes.

Seamless steel pipes find applications in various industries, including seamless steel pipes for petroleum exploration, cracking pipes in petrochemical plants, steam pipes, rolling bearing pipes, as well as high-precision structural steel pipes used in automobiles, large trailers, and aviation, among others.

Generally, seamless steel pipes are made from ordinary carbon steel, low-alloy tool steel, or alloy tool steel through cold rolling, with their maximum production capacity being key for use as pipelines or components for conveying liquids.

They can be categorized into three types based on their use: a) provided by composition and physical properties; b) provided by physical properties; c) provided by pressure testing. If steel pipes provided by Class A or B are used to withstand liquid pressure, they should undergo testing.

Specialized seamless pipes include those used in heating furnaces, electric power engineering in chemical plants, geological exploration, and petroleum industries. Seamless pipes have a hollow cross-section and are often used as pipelines for transporting liquids such as oil, natural gas, liquefied gas, water, and some solid materials. Steel pipes are cost-effective stainless steel sections that, compared to solid stainless steel like round bars, have the same resistance to bending, torsion, and compression but are lighter in weight.

They are suitable for manufacturing components and mechanical parts used in petroleum drilling tools, drive shafts, bicycle frames, scaffolding for construction, and more. They can improve raw material utilization, simplify production processes, and save raw materials and processing time. Pipe materials have been widely used in production and manufacturing.
